| Q: My mom wants to plant some climbing roses in the flower garden I love to eat samples from. But she's worried about them making me sick. Are roses poisonous? |
| A: Lucky for you roses aren't poisonous but like most plants, eating them can cause vomiting or diarrhea. For a complete list of poisonous plants, have Mom go to our Pet Health page and search for poisonous plants. |
| Q: I love raw potatoes, carrots, kohlrabi, bananas, apples, and basically most fruits and vegetables...even onions! Mom says I shouldn't eat grapes and I don't. Are there any other fruits or veggies that I shouldn't eat? |
| A: Grapes are definately not a good idea. They have been known to cause kidney failure in some dogs. Onions are another one that my Dad says I need to stay away from. The rest of the things your Mom is giving you sound great! |
| Q: My mom asked me to ask you what the difference is between regular Heartgard and Heartgard Plus. The vet store does not give a description between the two. Why would Mom want me to take one over the other? |
| A: Good question Jeb. Heartgard just contains ivermectin which is helpful for controlling heartworm disease. Heartgard Plus contains ivermectin and pyrantel which helps to control alot of the worms we can get in our intestines. My dad says he is concerned about me getting them but I know he really gives me the Heartgard Plus because he knows that I can pass roundworms and hookworms on to him!! I hope this helps answer your questions and hopefully mom will buy you the the Plus stuff. |
